The ARCE collection is comprised of materials from five historic monuments and sites throughout Egypt: Roman Wall Paintings at Luxor Temple, Bab Zuwayla in Cairo, the Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul by the Red Sea, and the Red Monastery at Sohag. The current images are from a project to clean and document wall paintings that were made around the turn of the 4th century A.D. at Luxor Temple during the Roman occupation of Egypt. More sites are being actively added.
We have created some best practices and guidelines for how to approach and use the collection: In addition, basic Finding Aids are provided for each collection. The Finding Aid is a simple summary and description of the collection that serves as a starting point for further exploration.
